Traffic was totally stationary, leading to significant delays for motorists however the road has since reopened.

Highways England tweeted out: “We’re in the process of clearing the collision and lifting the closure on the #M25 anti-clockwise between J6 (#Godstone) and J5 (#A21/#M26).

“We’ll let you know when it’s all open. Thanks for your patience today #Surrey.”

Frustrated motorists hit out at fellow road users stuck in the traffic jam for blocking the emergency outside lane.

As a result, 999 services struggled to access the incident.

“Should be a motoring offence.”
