A BINMAN who died after being hit by a rubbish lorry “pushed his colleague out of the way”, it has been claimed.
Paul Abbott, 59, was killed by his own bin lorry as he worked with workmates on their early morning rounds on Tuesday.

Emergency crews were called to the scene at Priors Field in Northolt, North West London, after the “serious incident” unfolded.
But despite the best efforts of paramedics, the father-of-five died at the scene.
It comes after reports Mr Abbott had “pushed his colleague out of the way” of the truck’s path, saving his life.
A post mortem is expected to be carried out.

Friends have since paid tribute to the 59-year-old, saying he was a “hard worker who loved his family”.
Metropolitan Police confirmed they had been called to reports a refuse lorry had collided with a male.
They said: “The driver of the lorry stopped at the scene and is assisting police with their enquiries.
Amey, the company contracted by Ealing Council to carry out environmental and waste services, said it was assisting with investigations.
